CelebrityDialogue:When did you start singing?
Cristina Fontanelli: I started as a small child to sing around the garden and the house and to put on shows in my neighborhood. I would choose the music, choreograph the dance/movements, I’d “cast” my friends and we would hang a curtain using a sheet or blanket in the backyard . Put chairs for the audience. My mother, Francesca, inspired me as she had/has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. She won a contest on the radio, but was a bit shy and timid to go after a career professionally and instead became a housewife and my Mamma, of course!

On a lovely summer night under a full moon in July, the beautifully expressive voice of award-winning international soprano, Cristina Fontanelli soared above the packed house in the Tasting Room at Duck Walk Vineyard North in Southold for a blissful evening of opera. Cristina Fontanelli & Her Fabulous Friends sang selections from the world’s most beloved opera arias, duets and Broadway hit tunes including Madame Butterfly, Carmen, La Boheme, Phantom of the Opera, and West Side Story, as well as Neapolitan folk songs. On September 8 at 3 pm, Cristina will perform in September Serenade with Cristina Fontanelli and Her Fabulous Friends at Guild Hall in East Hampton.

Born in Brooklyn, raised on Long Island and currently living in New York City, Italian-American Cristina Fontanelli has been entertaining people with her amazing voice since the early 1990s. This is a charitable concert takes place at the Bruno Walter Auditorium for the Performing Arts at the Lincoln Center, 40 Lincoln Center Plaza (Street entrance: 65th Street at Amsterdam Avenue), New York City,10013, on Saturday, December 17th, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Ms. Fontanelli says, “I began this annual Holiday tradition to preserve Italy’s great classic and popular songs, and the values they represent, for younger generations. We are continuing, along with the tree in Rockefeller Center and the Rockettes, a beloved NYC Holiday tradition.
