Robbie williams biography feeling

Robbie Williams on mental health, new biography ‘Reveal’ and why he wants to perform with Liam

Back in the early noughties, Robbie Williams invited music journalist Chris Heath to his document his (comparatively bizarre) life for two years. The resulting book, 2004’s Feel, was an extremely candid bestseller that, perhaps surprisingly for an officially sanctioned biography, also a became a critical hit. Fast-forward to 2017 and they’ve repeated the trick, with Heath catching up on Robbie’s life after marriage, children and 18 years of teetotalism. We called the pop star to talk about the new book, Reveal, and to extend yet another invite to the NME Awards (since he didn’t take us up on the offer last time).

Robbie, what compels you to continue analysing yourself in this way, rather than just singing the songs?

Robbie: I’m sort of blighted with a condition where I want to overshare and tell the truth. It’s not until I’ve started doing the interviews for the book – which is today – that I’ve had to go, “Where is that from? Do I nee

Feel: Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams’ biography Feel, written in collaboration with Chris Heath, has received wide critical acclaim. Heath – a music journalist – is Robbie’s friend and confidante, and was given unprecedented access to Robbie so he could write this detailed book. Indeed, Heath spent over a year following Robbie round and recording the details of his daily life. This is certainly a well-researched book, and was actually commissioned at Robbie’s request.

Feel is a highly unusual official biography. It isn't written in the first person by a ghostwriter, as so many celebrity biographies are. Instead, it is written in the voice of Chris Heath and reads like a diary that shows us a year in the life of Robbie Williams. The book is broken down into small snapshots of the events, confrontations, conversations and situations in that period to help the reader understand who the real Robbie Williams is. This is an amazingly honest book; we hear Robbie’s opinions on just about everything, and are confronted with Robbie’s mistakes

I have just read the book Feel. It was very moving to read about his struggle with his depression and his addictions.

I have a family member that has clinical depression and i have seen the pain they go through, the look in their eyes. I think so many people dont realise that being a star having money, cars etc arent everything you need to be happy.

A lot of the book seems to show how Robbie would like to settle down for the long haul and Ii personally would love to see that happen.

I would just like to say that the book was a super read and how nice it was to see someone sharing their problems even if in our society they are frowned upon.

Some days will be better than others but keep your chin up and stand up tall you have a lot to be proud of and most of all congrats for getting through everything you have been through.
