Tilman Joseph Fertitta (born June 25, 1957) is an American businessman and television personality. He is the chairman, CEO, and owner of Landry's, Inc.[2][3] He also owns the National Basketball Association (NBA)'s Houston Rockets.[4][5] Fertitta has been the chairman of the board of regents of the University of Houston System since 2009.[6]

As of February 2025, his net worth was estimated at $10.8 billion. He was placed at No. 99 on the Forbes 400 list.[7]Forbes calls him the "World's Richest Restaurateur.”[8]

Fertitta became the star of Billion Dollar Buyer on CNBC. On September 5, 2017, Fertitta reached an agreement to buy the Houston Rockets for $2.2 billion.[9][10][11]

On December 21, 2024, Fertitta was nominated by then President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the United States Ambassador to Italy and San Marino.[12]

Since childhood, Tilman Fertitta had dreams of becoming a business owner, an odd desire for a young boy; however, it was foreshadowing what his future would become. By age twelve, he was working for his father in the family restaurant, trying to send the patriarch home regularly with aspirations of running the place himself. Born in Galveston Texas, Fertitta spent his formative years working, and that passion for hard work has not died down and continues to become increasingly fiery. Work became such an integral aspect for Tilman’s life that it overshadowed his pursuit of higher education, but he viewed traditional education as a tiresome obstacle to his path towards success. Fertitta has enriched his community and given opportunity to thousands of people through his entrepreneurial and charitable endeavors
