Before being crowned a World Champion in 2017, Jose Altuve went through four straight losing seasons with the Houston Astros, three of which had at least 106 losses. Being a major contributor on an Astros team that went from scorned as perennial losers to the 2017 World Series Champions (and 2021 AL Champs) is a screenplay-worthy story on its own.

Jose Carlos Altuve, was born in Venezuela. He is the second baseman of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball (MLB) team. Altuve was signed by the Astros in 2007 as an amateur -free agent. He made his major league debut in 2011. He is a right-handed thrower and batter, and was an active MLB player. His weight is 165 lbs.
Altuve was a leader in the American League category, with at least 200 hits per season from 2014 to 2017. In that time, he won three batting championships.
Altuve was a seven-time MLB All-Star and has been elected the starting second baseman in the All-Star Game four consecutive times. He won the AL Most Valuable Player Award and the Hank Aaron Award in 2017. In addition, he became a World Series Champion with the Astros for the first time. Altuve was Sports Illustrated’s Co-Sportsperson Of The Year in the same year. J.
